Holding of a workshop relating to EC Guideline compliance status evaluation system for India

Under the instruction and financial support of the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI), the Energy Conservation Center, Japan (ECCJ) invited a total of 12 government officials in charge of policy at the Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE) and the State Designated Agency (SDA) of India, and hold a workshop in Japan in order to support the examination of introducing the EC Guideline compliance status evaluation system as a project for India in the current fiscal year.
India formulated and announced the EC Guidelines for designated consumers (DC) in the industrial sector in September 2018 in reference to the Japanese Energy Conservation Guidelines.
Although guidelines were initially left to the voluntary application by the DC, it is intended that these will be made compulsory in the future, and it will be mandatory to create EM Manuals based on the EC Guidelines. Assuming the situation of compulsory application, ECCJ introduced the methods of “On-site investigations in factories, etc.” which are conducted as guideline compliance status evaluation system in Japan, and held a Workshop to examine the introduction of them to India.
The Workshop took place over the five-day period from January 27 to 31, 2020. During this period,
site visit was made for participants to view the high efficiency Integrated Coal Gasification Combined Cycle and also visited ENEX 2020 Exhibition.
