Observation of on-site energy conservation audits and discussion of the results in “TOT under Qualified Energy Manager Training Project” in Indonesia on Oct. 2019

Under the instruction and financial support of the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) (in the project for contributing to the rational use of energy in developing nations and the EE&C capacity building program), the Energy Conservation Center, Japan (ECCJ) observed and provided guidance for energy conservation audits implemented at a caustic soda manufacturing plant and a purification plant of a water supply business in Indonesia as part of the training of trainers (TOT) under the AJEEP (ASEAN-Japan Energy Efficiency Partnership) Scheme 2 Qualified Energy Manager Training Project between October 21 and 24, 2019.
(1) ECCJ observed an energy conservation audit at a caustic soda manufacturing plant.
(2) ECCJ observed an energy conservation audit at a purification plant of a water supply business.
(3) ECCJ made an inspection visit to the Indonesia Training Center.

(1) At the caustic soda manufacturing plant, ECCJ observed a melting furnace exhaust gas analysis and the furnace wall temperature measurement. By involving the audited plant staff when implementing the audit, it can be anticipated that they will also implement activities as trainers going forward.
(2) At the water supply business purification plant, ECCJ observed the electric power measurement of the pump main distribution panel and the flow rates measurement inside the piping. The audit was implemented with the cooperation of a consultancy organized by trainers who were certified in FY2016, and it was possible to confirm the activities of these already certified trainers.
(3) ECCJ visited the Training Center supervised by the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (MEMR), where ECCJ explained an outline of Scheme 2 in addition to inspecting the facilities that are used for training. It is planned to hold meetings with the ACE regarding the utilization methods going forward.
